All-time Champions Gor Mahia will play their 2023 CAF Champions League matches in Tanzania. This is according to the statement from the Club Secretary General Sam Ochola.
Kenya stadiums have not been approved to host any continental games body – Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the grounds don’t meet the standards required.
The club has written a letter requesting the CAF o reconsider their decision and allow Gor to play at home. However, the African football governing body has not responded to the letter.
“We have written a letter to CAF and we are waiting for their response. If we fail to get a reply within the next seven days then the next step would be to engage the Tanzania Football Federation and book a pitch in the country which can be used for our Caf matches.” Ochola said.
With Tanzania, the only East African nation to have CAF-approved facilities, Gor Mahia have been forced to look to their neighbors for assistance.
