Gor Mahia emerged victorious in a thrilling exhibition match against Luo United, securing a narrow 1-0 victory at the newly constructed Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.
Right from the start, K’Ogalo dominated proceedings and took an early lead in the seventh-minute courtesy of Austin Odhiambo who capitalized on a scoring opportunity from close range, putting the ball past Luo United’s goalkeeper.
Luo United, however, refused to be intimidated by their more illustrious opponents and posed a constant threat on the counter-attack.
In the 17th minute, Abdul Hasab’s well-placed pass found Joackim Ake, who had an excellent chance to equalize, but his effort lacked the power required to beat Gor Mahia’s goalkeeper, Caleb Otieno.
George Odhiambo then squandered a very good opportunity for Gor Mahia when he blazed a shot over the crossbar after going clean through on goal, while Sylvester Owino’s low drive from the right was kept out by Sylvanus Onduru at the near post.
Luo United began to turn the screw but were unable to find the equalizer as Paul Ochuoga and his defense held firm to claim the win.
