Broke Kenya football champions Gor Mahia is planning to launch an investment scheme for club members to have a stake in the club and get returns.

While not elaborating how they intend to do this, club chairman Ambrose Rachier said this is the wider plan to make the club financially sustainable in future.

But in the meantime, the club has once again extended a begging hand for assistance to meet its financial obligations.

The club which is sponsored by betting company Betsafe is asking its club members, fans and well-wishers to contribute through a paybill number that has been activated.

According to a statement signed by club chairman Ambrose Rachier, Gor Mahia has been going through a financial stress that has been compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Therefore, Rachier said to ensure financial sustainability of the club in future, they have resolved to adopt a hybrid system to raise funds after studying financial models adopted by successful clubs around the globe.
