Gor coach begins to feel KPL pressure

KPL champions drop points again in battle for title as FKF condemn AFC Leopards’ fans over hooliganism.
That new Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay is a worried man is not in doubt.

This was more evident after his side picked a 1-1 result against Mathare United in Sunday’s SportPesa Premier League (SPL) match at Kasarani.

Worry and concern has replaced confidence in his eyes and surely, Oktay looks like a man under siege.

For a team that is used to being at the top of things, it is an unfamiliar situation for Gor Mahia fans and the man who is bearing the brunt is their new coach Oktay.

No matter how much he tries to hide behind a false sense of confidence, Oktay knows he must turn around the situation sooner rather than later.

He admitted after Sunday’s draw that his side cannot afford to lose or even draw anymore going forward.

“This is the third successive game where we created many chances but failed to score.

“Today we dropped two good points and gave our opponent a free one. From now on, we cannot afford to drop any more points,” he said.

Oktay seems to have a lot of hope on new-signing Dennis Oliech, who made his debut against Mathare United on Sunday.

“We are grateful to have him in our squad and his experience will do it for us.”

For Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi, his side was satisfied after picking a point.

“It was a good result for us. When you playing against a defending champion and manage to get a point, it is a good show. I want to thank my boys for their performance against a very experienced side,” said Kimanzi.
