Both Gor Mahia and Homeboyz were looking to register back-to-back wins but ended up sharing points. In their last match, K'Ogalo were 4-1 winners over Nairobi City Stars, while Homeboyz defeated former champions Tusker 2-1.

The result means Gor Mahia failed to register their third win of the season, but their points tally moved to eight. On the other hand, Kakamega Homeboyz were looking for their second victory of the nascent season but failed, although they took their point tally to four.
