As a football fan I may have been heart broken on last season’s TPL final match day, but in professional football one of the traditions we all adhere to is to never look back.  Gor Mahia may have lost the race to league victory in a rather disheartening way, but with a bit of effort I can just about force myself to briefly reflect on the past year. As ever it has never been less than exciting at Gor Mahia. Two managers, two major trophies, one of the most contentious games in KPL Top 8 competition’s history and the rebirth of…
The Kenyan football transfer window officially opened on Saturday, 1st December 2012 and will run for the next two months, ending 31st January 2013. There are bound to be changes in all teams in readiness for the new season, with player exits and entry marking the centre stage of activities in the coming sixty days, and Gor Mahia is of no exemption. However the club’s secretary general George Bwana has dismissed stories circulating in media and social websites over a possible move by dependable defender David Owino to Tusker Fc, while at the same time remaining tight lipped over the…
After the International break, another weekend crowded with TPL events is here with us and our focus as usual is on Gor Mahia and may be other  ‘worthy’ title chasers.  City Stadium will be the place to be on Saturday to witness Gor Mahia sorting out their differences with Karuturi Sports. Gor Mahia kept their FKF Cup defending ambitions alive after seeing off hard fighting Muhoroni Youth 4-2 albeit on post match penalties, at the city stadium on Sunday afternoon. The match which had a lively start and an array of chances in regulation time never seemed to head for shoot out, but lack of clinical finishing when it mattered most by both teams ensured the all headed for the spot kicks decider at full time. The defending champions had an almost perfect start but Muhoroni Youth custodian Joseck Gathongo was fast off his line to deny Rama Salim a through…
Gor Mahia will miss the services of first choice goalkeeper Fredrick Onyango who is away on compassionate leave, when they take on Muhoroni Youth in the FKF cup quarter finals. The match is scheduled for Sunday, 07-Oct-2012 at Nairobi City Staduim, and will kick-off at 3.00pm. The absence of the team captain will mean either Wycliffe Kasaya or Tanzanian custodian Ivoo Mapunda will take up role between the posts, with the latter having faced the millers in the sides first leg match in the KPL league. However the visitors will be facing a completely charged and refurbished squad under a…
