Gor Mahia are on the brink of making CAF Confederations Cup history as they face Angola’s Petro Athletico tomorrow (Sunday) at the Kasarani as from 7pm. A win will see Gor Mahia become the first team from Kenya to go past the group stage of the competition. Last season, Gor Mahia added another element to its rich history by being the first team from the country to reach the group stage of any CAF club competition since it was reformatted to include group stages. Gor Mahia moved to second position of KPL log after staging a stunning comeback against Kakamega Homeboys in a mid-week match played at Kenyatta Stadium – Machakos. Homeboyz took the lead five minutes of the second half through Luke Namanda and looked set to pull an upset but substitute Francis Mustafa equalized in the 67th minute. Three minutes after Mustafa equalizer, Boniface Omondi was on the scoreline with a good shot puting the defending champions on the lead. The defending champions have 32 points, one point adrift of Sofapaka with three matches in hand.
