Gor Mahia begin the New Year by hosting Chemelil Sugar today in Machakos as from 4pm. A win will get the champion’s title defence back on track after a lacklustre end to a rather successful year. The draws were done in Cairo, Egypt today and Gor Mahia will be starting at home on the 12th of January before heading to Cameroon for the return leg a week later. Gor Mahia dropped to Confederation Cup after crashing out of Champions League football last week against Lobi Stars of Nigeria.
Gor Mahia hopes of proceeding to CAF Champions League group stage were halted after a 2-0 loss to Lobi Stars in away match played at Enugu-Nigeria. Gor Mahia needed just a draw of any kind to make it through but that did not happen as KÓgalo conceded two goals in the last 20 minutes of the game courtesy of Sikuru Alimi’ brace leveling the game to a three all aggregate and that meant Lobi Stars qualified on away goal rule.
