Defending SportPesa Premier League champions Gor Mahia have officially completed the signing of prolific striker Paul Okoth ahead of the 2026/27 season, adding one of the country’s most in-form forwards to their squad as they prepare to defend their league title and compete in the CAF Champions League.
The club confirmed the acquisition through an official statement on Wednesday, describing Okoth as one of Kenyan football’s most clinical finishers following a remarkable breakthrough season with Ulinzi Stars.
Okoth joins K’Ogalo after finishing second in the 2025/26 SportPesa Premier League Golden Boot race with an impressive 18 league goals, just one behind the eventual top scorer.
A Journey Defined by Persistence
The move marks the latest chapter in a football journey built on resilience rather than instant success.
The striker first made a name for himself while representing Dagoretti High School before earning opportunities in the FKF Premier League with Kariobangi Sharks and Sofapaka. However, limited playing opportunities prevented him from fully showcasing his potential.
In 2022, Okoth also attracted international interest and underwent trials with Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent. Although the move did not materialize, he refused to let the setback define his career.
Instead, he dropped into the National Super League with Migori Youth, where he rebuilt his confidence and rediscovered the goalscoring form that would eventually propel him back to the top flight.
Ulinzi Stars Breakthrough
His prolific displays for Migori Youth earned him a move to Ulinzi Stars ahead of the 2025/26 campaign—a transfer that transformed his career.
Okoth wasted little time announcing his arrival in the top flight, scoring on his league debut against Murang’a Seal before producing the first hat-trick of the 2025/26 SportPesa League season in Ulinzi’s commanding 3-0 victory over Posta Rangers.
He maintained his consistency throughout the campaign, finishing with 18 league goals and emerging as one of the league’s standout performers.
His outstanding season was rewarded with two SportPesa Premier League Player of the Month awards, claimed in November and May, while he was also named in the League Team of the Season.
Beyond his individual accolades, Okoth played a crucial role in helping Ulinzi Stars secure their FKF Premier League status.
Perfect Fit for Gor Mahia
Renowned for his intelligent movement, aerial ability, physical presence and calm finishing inside the penalty area, the 26-year-old is expected to add a new dimension to Gor Mahia’s attack.
His arrival comes as K’Ogalo continue strengthening their squad following their title-winning campaign under a renewed push to compete strongly both domestically and in the CAF Champions League.
The signing also increases competition in the attacking department as Gor Mahia seek to retain the league title while making a significant impact on the continental stage.
Club Welcomes New Striker
In its official announcement, Gor Mahia welcomed the striker to the club and expressed confidence that he will become an important part of the team’s ambitions during the new season.
“We are delighted to welcome striker Paul Okoth to the club ahead of the 2026/27 season,” the club said in a statement.
“Everyone at Gor Mahia Football Club extends a warm welcome to Paul. Karibu K’Ogalo, Paul Okoth. We wish you every success in green.”
For Gor Mahia supporters, the arrival of one of the FKF Premier League’s deadliest forwards represents another statement of intent as the record Kenyan champions continue assembling a squad capable of defending their domestic crown while challenging Africa’s elite in the CAF Champions League.
