Geoffrey Ochieng’, affectionately known by Gor Mahia fans as “Simiti,” has officially brought an end to his eight-year stay at the record FKF Premier League champions.
The dependable defender, who also served as the club’s Assistant Captain, confirmed his departure through an emotional message posted on social media, thanking everyone associated with the club for making his journey memorable.
“After eight unforgettable years, the time has come for me to say goodbye to this incredible club. Wearing this badge has been one of the greatest honors of my football journey. From my first day to serving as Assistant Captain, every moment has shaped me into the player and person I am today,” Ochieng’ wrote.
The defender expressed gratitude to the club’s management, coaches, technical bench, teammates, support staff, and the passionate Gor Mahia faithful, saying their unwavering support meant everything to him throughout his stay.
“I want to thank the club management, coaches, technical bench, my teammates, the staff, and above all, the amazing Gor Mahia fans. Your love, trust, and unwavering support have meant everything to me. We celebrated victories together, faced difficult moments together, and created memories that I will cherish forever.”
Reflecting on his leadership role, Ochieng’ described being named Assistant Captain as one of the greatest privileges of his career.
“Being entrusted with the responsibility of Assistant Captain was a privilege I will always be grateful for. Leading this team alongside my teammates taught me valuable lessons about commitment, resilience, and unity.”
Despite leaving, the defender insisted his affection for Gor Mahia remains as strong as ever, explaining that his exit is motivated by the desire to embrace a new challenge.
“Today, I leave not because my love for this club has ended, but because I believe it is time for a new challenge and a new chapter in my career. Gor Mahia will always have a special place in my heart, and I will forever be proud to have been part of this great club’s history.”
He concluded by wishing the club continued success before signing off with a message that will resonate with K’Ogalo supporters.

Ochieng’s departure comes as Gor Mahia continue a major squad overhaul ahead of the new season, with several senior players already leaving the club. The experienced defender has been strongly linked with a move to former FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC as he prepares for the next chapter of his career.
