Gor Mahia head coach Sinisa Mihic is feeling optimistic after his team’s exciting 3-1 victory over Kariobangi Sharks at Dandora Stadium on Wednesday! It was a thrilling match where the defending champions had to dig deep to come from behind against a tough Kariobangi Sharks side.
The game started with Fortune Omoto scoring for the Sharks in the 26th minute, but Gor Mahia equalized with a goal from Alpha Onyango in the dying moment of the first half. In the second half, Austine Odhiambo stepped up and scored two goals, helping the team secure the win. Mihic, always passionate on the sidelines, even got a yellow card for his protests after he felt his team should have received a penalty when Odhiambo was fouled in the box in the 12th minute.
Despite some challenges early in his time as coach, Mihic is confident that the team has moved beyond the “honeymoon phase” and is on the right track now. After the match, he shared his excitement with the press, including Pulse Sports.

Mihic has now overseen five matches without a loss—winning three and drawing two—despite the pressure he’s faced. The postponed Mashemeji Derby has made fans eager for strong performances, but Mihic hopes that this latest win will set the stage for more successes ahead.
In the FKF Premier League, the excitement is palpable as Gor Mahia finds itself in a tight title race with Kenya Police and Tusker FC. Currently, Kenya Police leads the standings with 42 points, closely followed by Tusker at 41 points, while Gor Mahia is in third with 39 points and a game in hand.
Mihic also highlighted the importance of adding new players to strengthen the team. He mentioned that new signings will need to show their skills to earn a spot on the team.
“New players need to impress me! Time will tell. If they want a chance to play, they need to show what they can do. I don’t know them very well yet, so let’s see how they perform,” he said.
As they chase the title, Gor Mahia has bolstered their team with some exciting additions, including goalkeeper Giscard Mavoungou, right-back Kevin Monyi, midfielders Ben Stanley and Sydney Ogutu, and strikers Patrick Essombe and Charles Bbaale.
However, the club also made some difficult decisions, parting ways with five players—Sydney Ochieng, Musa Masika, Dolph Owino, Enock Wanyama, and Kevin Juma—as part of a restructuring.
