Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrisson has rapidly become a key figure for Gor Mahia FC since signing in July 2024 from Asante Kotoko. His impressive performances this season have earned him public backing from head coach Charles Akonnor, who believes the midfielder deserves a spot in the Ghana national team ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Morrison joined Gor Mahia on a two-year contract as part of the club’s ambition to strengthen its squad for both domestic and continental competitions. He quickly established himself as a midfield pivot, influencing the tempo of games and providing balance between defense and attack.
“He’s not been in the picture for a long time, probably because of his performances, and now he’s doing very well, so maybe now they can start to look at him in that aspect,” said Akonnor.

“Yes, he’s doing very well, so now is the time to start looking at him. In the past, he wasn’t in that category, so it’s no surprise he wasn’t invited.”
Morrison has featured in every league game since the season opener, including high-profile clashes like the Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards. His composure, tactical intelligence, and work rate have made him a fan favorite, earning the nickname “Onyango” among K’Ogalo supporters.
Despite occasional tactical substitutions, Akonnor insists Morrison’s form has been pivotal for Gor Mahia’s strong campaign in the Kenya Premier League, and he could soon take that form to the international stage.
With the World Cup on the horizon, Morrison’s consistency and resilience, both on and off the pitch, make him a strong candidate for Ghana’s squad, highlighting Gor Mahia’s role in developing players capable of competing at the highest level.
