Shabana Football Club have parted ways with head coach Peter Okidi just days before their high-stakes clash against Gor Mahia.
The “Tore Bobe” confirmed that Okidi has left the club by mutual consent, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure at the Kisii-based side.
His departure comes at a critical moment, with Shabana scheduled to face league leaders Gor Mahia on Saturday, March 21, at the iconic Nyayo National Stadium.
Assistant coach Andrew Ongwae has been handed the reins on an interim basis and will take charge of the team for the crucial fixture.
The decision follows Shabana’s disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Kariobangi Sharks, a result that appears to have accelerated changes within the technical bench.
With the timing of the coaching shake-up raising eyebrows, all eyes will be on how Shabana respond under new leadership against a dominant Gor Mahia side chasing the title.
Meanwhile, K’Ogalo will be keeping their focus firmly on the title race with a smart, composed approach, aiming to control the game, exploit key spaces, and maintain their steady push at the top of the table.
