Gor Mahia FC chairman Dr. Ambrose Rachier has declined to comment in detail on the club’s ongoing disciplinary case involving Nairobi United, saying the matter is currently before the relevant authorities.
The case stems from the December 21 match that was abandoned following crowd trouble, and is expected to be heard on Tuesday.
Speaking after a recent match pitting Gor Mahia and. BB Bread, Rachier confirmed that the club has already submitted its defense but emphasized that he would not publicly discuss the matter while proceedings are ongoing.
“The pending case is coming for hearing on Tuesday, and we have already put forward our case. I don’t want to talk about it because it is a legal matter. When something is sub-judice, we must respect the judicial authority and allow the process to take its course.”
Focus Shifts to League Title
With the case still unresolved, the Gor Mahia chairman insisted the club’s main focus remains the Kenya Premier League title race.
Rachier said the competition for the championship is healthy and motivates the club to keep pushing for success.
“Now the league is what we are determined to win. Competition is a healthy thing, and we like the chase by AFC records. But we hope to win.”
Warning as Rivals Close In
Rachier also acknowledged that rivals, including Shabana FC, are closing in and urged the team to address current performance concerns early.
“Shabana are getting close and we welcome the challenge. But we must address the concerns around the kind of football and results we are getting now before we reach a point where we cannot explain what is happening.”
Pride in Gor Mahia’s Legacy
The chairman reminded critics of Gor Mahia’s historic dominance in Kenyan football.
“We have been league champions 21 times, something we take a lot of pride in. Our other contenders have hardly made half of what we have achieved.”
He concluded by welcoming the challenge from competitors, saying the best team will ultimately prevail.
“We just want to tell them — welcome. Be the better team. The best team will definitely win.”
