Gor Mahia fought back deep into stoppage time to salvage a dramatic 1-1 draw against Posta Rangers in a tense FKF Premier League clash at Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday.
The match was dominated not only by the football but also by persistent time-wasting that frustrated the K’Ogalo faithful throughout the encounter.
Posta Rangers stunned the league leaders early when Joseph Macharia struck in the 6th minute to give the mailmen a dream start. Gor Mahia were forced to chase the game for long spells as Rangers repeatedly slowed the tempo through extended stoppages.

In the first half alone, multiple Rangers players went down requiring treatment, while their goalkeeper took unusually long periods before restarting play from goal kicks. The cumulative delays added up to roughly ten minutes before the break.
The second half followed a similar script. The Posta Rangers goalkeeper was down for nearly ten minutes alone, while throw-ins and goal kicks were repeatedly delayed as the visitors attempted to protect their slim lead.
Ironically, Rangers players protested when the referee added ten minutes of stoppage time, a decision largely justified by the numerous interruptions during the game.

Their resistance, however, finally broke in the dying moments.
Gor Mahia’s relentless pressure paid off in 90+4 minutes when Ghanaian striker Ebenezer Assifuah rose to the occasion, striking the crucial equalizer to rescue a point for K’Ogalo and send the Nyayo crowd into celebration.
Despite the frustrating evening, the result keeps Gor Mahia comfortably at the top of the FKF Premier League table with 50 points, maintaining a seven-point lead over second-placed AFC Leopards, who still have a game in hand.

K’Ogalo will now turn their focus to the next league assignment against Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Complex, where they will look to extend their advantage at the summit.
For Gor Mahia fans, the late equalizer felt almost like a victory, and a reminder that persistence can break even the most stubborn time-wasting tactics.
