Record champions Gor Mahia safely booked their place in the next round of the Mozzart Bet Cup after a composed 2–0 victory over Division One outfit Dero FC at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Mamboleo, Kisumu.
K’Ogalo took control early and were rewarded in the 26th minute when Samuel Kapen calmly found the back of the net to give Sirkal the lead. The game was played on a rough surface that disrupted rhythm and build-up play, but Gor Mahia’s experience and patience clearly showed.

After the break, K’Ogalo maintained pressure and doubled the advantage in the 58th minute through Livin Odhiambo, effectively killing off the contest. Dero FC showed fight, but they struggled to cope with Gor Mahia’s movement, pressing, and game management.
Head coach Charles Akonnor used the match to rotate his squad, resting several regular starters while giving minutes to other players. Ernest Wendo, Fidel Origa, Assistant Captain Geoffrey Ochiend, Levin Odhiambo, and Lewis Bandi were among those introduced as Sirkal kept control and avoided unnecessary risks.
It wasn’t about flair; it was about professionalism. Gor Mahia did what champions do: handled tricky conditions, respected the opponent, and moved on.
Mozzart Bet Cup mission continues. K’Ogalo ni kubeba. 💚🤍🔥
