Gor Mahia head coach has outlined his tactical approach ahead of today’s FKF Premier League clash against Sofapaka, set for Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Nyayo National Stadium.
Reflecting on their previous meeting, the tactician noted that difficult pitch conditions limited his side’s performance, something he is keen to correct this time around.
“The other day when we played them, it was on a difficult pitch and we weren’t able to perform as we wanted. This time, we want to control the ball, play our style, and maintain possession,” he said.
The coach expressed satisfaction with his team’s progress, particularly in ball movement and circulation, insisting that creating scoring chances remains the primary objective.
“We are doing very well in movement without the ball, movement with the ball, and quick ball circulation. The goal, of course, is to create chances. I believe we have the players to make it happen.”
However, he cautioned that Sofapaka will not be an easy opponent, predicting a disciplined and compact approach from the Batoto ba Mungu.
“It’s very important. I don’t think they will open up. They defend very well and are quick on the counter, as we saw in their last match. We need to be aware of that danger, stay calm, keep possession, and play our game.”
He concluded by emphasizing game control as the key to success, as Gor Mahia look to impose themselves and push forward in the title race.
