Gor Mahia FC registered a comprehensive 3–0 win against Mara Sugar FC in an FKF Premier League fixture played at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
The record Kenyan champions asserted control early in the match and opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Felix Oluoch, who reacted quickest to a delivery from the right by Paul Ochuoga to finish past the advancing Mara Sugar goalkeeper.
Gor Mahia doubled their advantage in the 28th minute when Musa Shariff converted from close range following a low cross by Bryton Anyona, with the goalkeeper unable to recover after being wrong-footed. The hosts went into the halftime interval with a 2–0 lead.
In the second half, Gor Mahia continued to dictate play and sealed the result in the 84th minute. Substitute Samuel Kapen applied the finishing touch after a well-timed low cross from Ebenezer Assifuah, who had been introduced in the 74th minute.
The victory sees Gor Mahia move to the top of the FKF Premier League standings, overtaking AFC Leopards with a game in hand, as the competition at the summit of the table continues to intensify.
