The Green Army has every reason to smile after Gor Mahia completed the return of Harambee Stars defender Frank Odhiambo from Swedish side Djurgårdens IF, in a move that sends a clear message across the FKF Premier League.
K’Ogalo have confirmed that the towering centre-back has signed a two-year deal, making a long-awaited homecoming four years after he left Kenyan football for Europe in 2022.
Odhiambo becomes Gor Mahia’s second mid-season signing, following the arrival of creative midfielder Jackson Dwang from Posta Rangers, as the record champions load up for a fierce title charge.
For a club that prides itself on winning, last season’s trophyless campaign still stings and this signing shows that Gor Mahia mean business. With 11 goals conceded in 15 league matches, the need to tighten things at the back was clear, and the return of Odhiambo answers that call.

Confirming the signing, the club welcomed back one of their own.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of defender Frank Odhiambo from Swedish side Djurgårdens IF. Frank returns on a two-year deal. Welcome back, Frank Odhiambo.”
A Son Returns with European Grit
Odhiambo doesn’t come back the same player who left. He returns hardened by European football, having spent time on loan across Sweden to build his game.
The former Bongonaya FC defender featured for IFK Haninge, Vasalunds IF, AFC Eskilstuna, and most recently IF Karlstad, gaining valuable minutes and sharpening his defensive instincts in competitive Scandinavian leagues.
A league champion with Gor Mahia in the 2022–23 season, Odhiambo now reunites with the Green Army as they hunt for a historic 22nd FKF-PL title.
His arrival adds muscle and experience to a defence already boasting Michael Kibwage, Sylvester Owino, Lewis Bandi, Siraj Mohamed, and Bryton Onyona, giving head coach Charles Akonnor plenty of options as the pressure mounts.
Currently sitting top of the FKF-PL table with 30 points, level with rivals AFC Leopards but holding a crucial game in hand, Gor Mahia know the margins are tight.
As the season enters its decisive phase, the return of Frank Odhiambo could be the missing piece in K’Ogalo’s push to reclaim their throne.
The message is clear: Gor Mahia are coming. 💚⚽
