Gor Mahia FC midfielder Austine Odhiambo has officially bid farewell to the club, bringing to an end a memorable three-year spell with the Kenyan giants. The talented midfielder announced his departure in an emotional message, describing the club as a “home” and acknowledging the difficulty of the decision to move on.

Odhiambo fondly known as “Rolls Royce” expressed deep gratitude to the Gor Mahia fraternity, noting that his time at the club was filled with priceless memories, growth, and unforgettable moments both on and off the pitch.

Odhiambo joins the Lebanese powerhouse Nejmeh Sporting Club following weeks of negotiations, with Gor Mahia opting to cash in on the influential midfielder who had entered the final six months of his contract. The transfer brings to an end Odhiambo’s highly successful spell with the Kenyan champions, where he established himself as one of the most decisive attacking midfielders in the region.

Nejmeh SC confirmed the signing through a bold statement on their official Facebook page, posting:

“This was not an easy decision,” Odhiambo stated, “but I am moving on to a new challenge in my career.” His departure comes at a time when the midfielder has been strongly linked with opportunities beyond the Kenyan Premier League, a testament to his consistent performances and development during his stay at K’Ogalo.

During his three seasons at Gor Mahia, Odhiambo played a key role in midfield, contributing with important goals, assists, and tireless performances. He experienced the highs of celebrated victories and the lows of challenging moments, all of which he says strengthened his bond with the club.

In a heartfelt tribute, Odhiambo paid special homage to the Gor Mahia fans, widely regarded as among the most passionate supporters in African football.

“To the fans, thank you,” he said. “You supported me even in my lowest moments. You will forever remain special to me.” His words resonated strongly with supporters who stood by him throughout his journey in green and white.

He also acknowledged his teammates, crediting them for their support, unity, and role in shaping him not only as a footballer but also as a person. The camaraderie within the squad, he noted, was central to his growth and success at the club.

Odhiambo concluded his farewell by reaffirming his lasting attachment to Gor Mahia, making it clear that the club will always hold a special place in his heart.

“Forever, I will cherish Gor Mahia,” he said.

As Gor Mahia prepare for life without one of their key midfielders, fans will remember Austine Odhiambo for his commitment, passion, and contributions during his time at the club. His departure marks the end of a chapter, but also the beginning of a new journey as he takes the next step in his football career.
