In a tribute to the late Prime Minister and Gor Mahia Patron Hon. Raila Odinga, Gor Mahia showcased their prowess on the pitch with a commanding 3-0 victory over Posta Rangers at the Nyayo National Stadium. The win not only propelled KāOgalo to third place in the SportPesa League but also highlighted their strong start to the season with impressive teamwork and determination.
The match began cautiously, with both teams taking their time to assess each other’s tactics. Posta Rangers almost capitalized on an opportunity early on when a well-placed cross found Teddy Trevor, but Gor Mahia’s goalkeeper, Brynne Omondi, made a crucial intervention, denying a potential goal from close range.
As the first half progressed, Gor Mahia started to assert their dominance. Sherif Musa and Austine Odhiambo both had long-range attempts, testing the stamina of the Posta goalkeeper. Despite their efforts, the first half ended in a stalemate, with Gor Mahia unable to break through the visitors’ disciplined defense.

The second half brought renewed energy for Gor Mahia. A pivotal moment came in the 58th minute when substitute Ben Stanley Omondi made an immediate impact. Rising to meet a perfectly delivered cross from Shariff Musa, he headed the ball into the net, marking his presence with an impressive goal.
Undeterred, Posta Rangers attempted to respond swiftly, launching a counter-attack led by Eliud Lokuwam and Kevin Juma. Their efforts drew another spectacular save from Omondi, who managed to keep the defending champions in a comfortable position.
With their confidence bolstered by the first goal, Gor Mahia began to control the game. In the 71st minute, Austin Odhiambo extended their lead to 2-0 with a composed strike following a fluid team move that dismantled the Rangers’ defense.

Posta Rangers continued to push for a goal, generating several chances, including a close header from Brian Marita and a dangerous long-range effort from Trevor that deflected for a corner. Unfortunately for them, Gor Mahia’s defense remained resolute, absorbing the pressure effectively.
Deep into stoppage time, Gor Mahia capped off their performance with a third goal. In the 90+2 minute, Felix Origa found the net with a tranquil finish after a rapid series of passes inside the box, securing a definitive 3-0 victory.
As the final whistle blew, Posta Rangers attempted a last-minute rally, yet the goalpost and an ever-alert Omondi thwarted their attempts. Gor Mahia celebrated not only a significant win but also a fitting homage to Raila Odinga, embodying the spirit of resilience and pride that he championed.
