In a heartfelt tribute to Collins Odimo Kwala, commonly known as Collo Kwala, the passionate supporter and dedicated photographer of Gor Mahia Football Club, the community remembers the loss of a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

Following the Gor Mahia match against Sofapaka in Dandora, a sombre yet celebratory gathering will take place at Druids Lounge along Kangundo Road in Nairobi. This event not only honours Kwala’s memory but also serves as a testament to his unwavering devotion to K’Ogalo.

Collo Kwala tragically passed away 2 years ago after a road accident, leaving behind a legacy defined by his loyalty and passion for the beautiful game.

For years, he was a stalwart presence at matches, capturing the spirit of the team and its fans through his lens. Kwala wasn’t just a spectator; he was a crucial part of the fabric of Gor Mahia, tirelessly promoting the club through breathtaking images that showcased the highs and lows of the sport.

Starting his journey with the team back in 2008, Kwala became one of the pioneering members of the Gor Mahia photography team. His intimate knowledge of the game and his ability to connect with fans made him a beloved figure among players and supporters alike.

Kwala’s photographic work was more than just documentation; it was a celebration of the club’s rich history, instilling pride and enthusiasm among the fans.

Beyond football, Kwala was known as a charismatic mobilizer within the community. His brief foray into politics demonstrated his commitment to service and desire to contribute positively to society. Last year, he contested the ODM primaries for the Umoja II Ward, reflecting his dedication to making a difference.

As friends and fellow fans gather to reminisce about his many contributions and to celebrate his life, the refrain is clear: Kwala is deeply missed. His spirit lives on in the community that he cherished and in the memories of every match captured through his lens.

Rest in peace, Collo Kwala. Your love for Gor Mahia and the people around you will forever be remembered. May you inspire victory for K’Ogalo from above.
