In a surprising turn of events, Ugandan forward Muhammad Shaban Jagason has parted ways with Kenya’s all-time champions, Gor Mahia, just days after arriving in Kenya. The striker, who did not make a single appearance for the club, reportedly left after declining to accept the signing fee.
The news has sparked a wave of reactions from passionate Gor Mahia supporters, who have taken to social media to express their views on the sudden departure. While some fans expressed relief, suggesting that the club could do without Shaban, others raised concerns about the integrity of contract negotiations.
Larky Luke Oj stated succinctly, “Good riddance,” encapsulating the sentiment of many who believe the club is better off moving forward without the forward. George Ochieng’ echoed this sentiment, remarking, “We don’t need him,” and reminiscing about the club’s talented past players who have contributed significantly to Gor Mahia’s success.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding the striker’s exit, Gor Mahia will now lean on their existing forwards, including Christopher Ochieng, Felix Oluoch, Austin Odhiambo, Mark Shaban, and Ebenezer Adukwaw, as they prepare for the first leg of the season. Claudio Demba Clyde highlighted Gor Mahia’s potential stars, noting last season’s NSL top scorer Veron Ombima, suggesting there are plenty of options to fill the gap left by Shaban.
Ochieng Ba Travis raised an important point, emphasizing that “contracts should be respected,” while Kenneth Goonerized Ochieng Odhiambo concisely labeled the situation, “Good riddance to bad rubbish.” Meanwhile, MC Jadeke Pandu shed light on the negotiation disputes, claiming that Shaban was promised a lucrative $30,000 but was instead presented with a significantly lower figure of $10,000 upon his arrival, calling it “a terrible lie.”

In a more optimistic tone, Maureen Adhiambo expressed hope that Felix Oluoch, one of the existing forwards, will be effectively utilized in the upcoming matches. The mood was notably celebratory among some fans, with Mukana Junior simply stating, “Congratulations to Gor,” while Richie Opuka added, “From this side of Shamakhokho, we are very happy,” signaling that many supporters are enthusiastic about the team’s future prospects.
As Gor Mahia FC moves on from this episode, the focus now shifts to the players who will take the field in the new season, with fans eagerly anticipating how the team will perform.
