Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars dynamic attacking midfielder, Austin Odhiambo, has passionately expressed his insights regarding the team’s exciting new signings as they gear up for the upcoming season.

In anticipation of the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign, Gor Mahia has made several impactful additions to their squad. With aspirations to reclaim their coveted title lost in a heart-wrenching battle to the formidable Kenya Police during the 2024/25 season K’Ogalo is poised to make a strong comeback.

The Law Enforcers clinched the league championship with a remarkable tally of 65 points, triumphing in 18 of their 34 matches. Conversely, Gor Mahia settled for a hard-fought second place, amassing 59 points after securing victory in 16 matches.

The season took a painful turn when Nairobi United dealt Gor Mahia a stinging defeat in the FKF Cup final, winning 2-1 and leaving the iconic club empty-handed.

In the wake of a tumultuous campaign, Gor Mahia took decisive action by parting ways with their entire technical staff, ushering in a new era with the appointment of Charles Akonnor as head coach. He will be supported by Kobi-Mensah Bismark as his assistant, revamping the coaching dynamics.

Adding to the excitement, Gor Mahia has signed the talented Harambee Stars defender Lewis Bandi from arch-enemies AFC Leopards, where he previously served as assistant captain. The squad has also bolstered its defense with the acquisitions of Michael Kibwage from Tusker FC and Bryne Omondi, a promising goalkeeper from Bandari FC. Additionally, they welcomed Siraj Mohammed, another solid defender from Bandari FC, enhancing their backline.

Amid this wave of enthusiasm, Austin Odhiambo, who has shone brightly for Harambee Stars in the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), declared that these signings are a monumental step forward for Gor Mahia.

“It’s good for Gor Mahia…that’s all I can say,” Austin Odhiambo briefly commented. “It’s every player’s dream to play abroad, so when an opportunity arises, it will be great.”

He radiated excitement, stating that the team is itching to embark on their new journey. Reflecting on his aspirations, Odhiambo added that should the opportunity to play abroad arise, he would embrace it wholeheartedly, recognizing it as a dream cherished by every aspiring player.

Odhiambo kicked off his CHAN 2024 adventure in spectacular fashion, scoring the sole goal against the formidable two-time champions DR Congo. He further showcased his skill by converting a penalty that secured a 1-1 draw against Angola, proving himself a crucial player on the international stage.
