In a significant meeting that blended nostalgia with excitement for the future, Gor Mahia’s Deputy Patron, Mr. Eliud Owalo, welcomed the family of Harambee Stars’ attacking midfielder Ryan Wesley Ogam to his office.

This gathering not only celebrated Ogam’s recent achievements but also honoured the legacy of his father, David Rabuok, a former Gor Mahia player.

During the meeting, which was shared on social media by Owalo, he recounted fond memories of David Rabuok’s time with the club.

Rabuok, a no-nonsense central defender who wore jersey number 28, was a crucial part of the Gor Mahia squad during the 2008 season.

The Deputy Patron’s post reflected on the rich history of the club, with Owalo expressing his affinity for the “nostalgic” experience of connecting with Rabuok and his spouse, Mama Edith Rabuok.

Ogam has been making headlines recently, having made a notable impact in the Harambee Stars’ squad competing in the African Nations Championship (CHAN). He scored a decisive goal against Morocco, showcasing his skills and potential on an international platform.

His remarkable performance has not gone unnoticed; the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has recognised him as one of the key players to watch in the upcoming CHAN 2024 tournament, alongside Gor Mahia midfielder Austin Odhiambo.

The meeting also served as an opportunity for Ogam’s family to reflect on the journey of Gor Mahia, which has shaped countless players, including Rabuok, over the years. Owalo noted,
“We reminisced about the journey of Gor Mahia over the past two decades,” emphasising the club’s profound cultural and sporting significance in Kenya.

Looking ahead, Gor Mahia is gearing up for an exciting 2025/2026 season, which is anticipated to be one of the most intriguing in the club’s history, especially as Kenya prepares to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The upcoming season promises to be a pivotal time for Gor Mahia, as it continues to nurture talent while aiming for success on both domestic and international stages.

As the club realigns its strategies and objectives, the contributions of past players like David Rabuok keep the spirit of Gor Mahia alive, promising a bright future for both the team and its passionate supporters.
