Gor Mahia’s star midfielder Austin Odhiambo is fired up and ready to lead the Harambee Stars as they gear up to take on Angola in their next CHAN match.
Fresh off a confident 1-0 victory against DR Congo, Odhiambo is showcasing his skills and proving why he’s a standout player in Kenyan football. His electrifying goal sealed the win and sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
“I’m determined to help Kenya lift the CHAN trophy,” Odhiambo declared, full of determination and passion.
Looking ahead to the clash with Angola, he’s not holding back. “I want to score again on Thursday and bring in as many goals as possible. This cup needs to stay in Kenya!” he emphasized. \
Odhiambo knows the Sable Antelopes will present a tougher challenge, and he’s rallying his teammates for the fight. “Let’s harness the energy from our amazing fans. We need to create chances and convert them into goals. Playing at home gives us a real advantage, and we need to capitalize on that.”
While Odhiambo is known for his attacking flair, he’s also focused on strengthening the team’s midfield play before the big match.
“We’ve identified areas where we need to improve—game management, ball possession, and control are key. We’ve got to elevate our game to beat Angola,” he stated, showing his competitive spirit.
After that opening win, the mood in the Harambee Stars camp is electric. “Everyone’s hyped, but we’re fully focused on this next fixture. It’s a must-win for us,” Odhiambo said confidently.
He’s calling on fans, the vital “12th man” to pack the stands once again. “We need you all there on Thursday and for the entire tournament! Your energy fuels us, and together we can achieve greatness!”
Despite a challenging domestic season, which included injuries, Odhiambo still clinched the Kenyan Premier League’s Most Valuable Player award.
He sees CHAN as not just an international stage but also a chance to redeem himself and show gratitude to his supporters, especially his mom.
“When I got the ball, I was ready. The defender was backpedaling, and I just focused, struck low, and found the back of the net. It may not be my best goal, but I dedicate it to my mom for all her support,” he shared.
Austin Odhiambo is set to lead the charge, and with his determination and skill, he’s committed to bringing the CHAN trophy home for Kenya!
