In a thrilling display of skill and determination, National Super League champions Nairobi United triumphed over the illustrious Gor Mahia to seize the 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup.

The highly anticipated final took place at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on a sunlit Sunday afternoon.

Confronted with what many deemed a formidable challenge, Nairobi United showcased their resilience and tactical prowess.

Their journey through the tournament had already turned heads, but this victory against the most decorated club in Kenyan football solidified their status as serious contenders.

With a blend of strategic plays and tenacious effort, they demonstrated that their success was no mere coincidence but a testament to their hard work and dedication.Gor Mahia defender Ben Stanley Omondi (right) in action during Mozzart Bet Cup match aagainst Nairobi United. Gor Mahia lost 2-1As the final whistle blew, the roar of their fans echoed through the stadium, celebrating a historic win and crowning them as champions.

Frank Ouya’s early strike in the 6th minute set the tone for the newcomers, putting them ahead in an exhilarating match. But just when it seemed the newbies might secure a lead, Ben Stanley Omondi levelled the playing field at the 36th minute, and the first half concluded at 1-1.

The real twist came in the second half when Enock Machaka delivered a stunning, thunderous shot from outside the 18-yard box. K’Ogalo’s goalkeeper, Kevin Omondi, was caught off guard and couldn’t dive in time to prevent the ball from hitting the right side of the net.

In a dramatic turn of events, K’Ogalo had the opportunity to equalize in the dying seconds when awarded a penalty. However, their top scorer, Alpha Onyango, unfortunately missed the chance to score, marking a heartbreaking blow for Gor’s aspirations and solidifying United’s triumph.

As the final whistle echoed, the Nairobi bench, players, and fans erupted in uncontainable joy, their celebration underscoring the significance of this monumental achievement.

Having missed the opportunity to compete in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup, Gor Mahia is turning its focus inward. It’s time to regroup and develop a robust strategy for the local games ahead.

With determination and a clear plan, the team can reclaim its former glory and make a triumphant return to the top.
