Gor Mahia chairman Dr. Ambrose Rachier has passionately underscored the urgent need for unity among players and the technical bench amidst rising concerns about internal discord within the team.

During a visit to the Gor Mahia training ground on Tuesday, just days before their pivotal match against Talanta FC at Dandora Stadium in Nairobi, Rachier took the opportunity to address the pressing issues head-on.

“I am here first of all to talk to the players to give them assurance that we are going to address all these issues that appear to be arising from some friction on the bench. So I have already addressed both the bench and the players together, calling for unity between them so that we can win our trophies as necessary”,  Rachier asserted with conviction during an interview at the bustling training facility.

He further encouraged the players to redirect their focus towards their performance on the pitch, urging them to give their utmost effort despite any personal grievances they may harbour towards their coaches.

“I have addressed the players individually, separately, talking about the need for discipline and particular respect for authority so that even if they may think that the superiors are wrong in any way, they should just concentrate on playing football,” The Chairman elaborated.

The backdrop to Rachier’s remarks is a growing rift within the squad, particularly in the dynamics between players and the coaching staff. This tension has been further inflamed by several public altercations shared on social media, leading to increased scrutiny from fans and media alike. The most recent incident involved head coach Mihic, who, in a visibly frustrated state, left Dandora Stadium prematurely during the match against Sofapaka, which ended in a tense 1-1 draw.

To tackle these escalating issues, Rachier has called an emergency executive meeting with the newly elected officials for Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The aim of this gathering is to confront the evident fractures within the organisation and to establish a collaborative path forward.

“I have then called for a full executive committee meeting with the entire technical bench so that I can be able to find out where the blame lies and also to urge them for the need to act in unison so that we achieve our goal”, Rachier explained passionately.

As Gor Mahia gears up to face Talanta FC this Thursday, anticipation is palpable within the ranks. The match, set to unfold at Dandora Stadium, carries significant implications, as a victory is essential not only for sustaining their momentum in the FKF Premier League but also for reviving team spirit among players and energising their dedicated fanbase. The stakes have never been higher, and the outcome is eagerly awaited by all.
