Philemon to Gor Mahia followers: COME FILL Nyayo and WATCH

Gor Mahia captain Philemon Otieno has passionately urged K’Ogalo fans to turn out in greater numbers to support the team during the much-anticipated Mashemeji Derby, a match that has been eagerly awaited for what feels like an eternity.

As the longest-serving player on the team, Otieno is set to play a pivotal role as the champions gear up for an intense battle in the title race. With a steely determination, he has reassured the devoted fan base that his team is focused on securing yet another victory in this iconic clash.

“Well, I expect that we are going to give our very best and ensure that we claim all the valuable points,” Otieno expressed with conviction in an interview with Gor Mahia media, eagerly anticipating another triumph. “It’s a monumental game—a truly special occasion. As Gor Mahia, we must defend our bragging rights and strive for victory because AFC Leopards is a formidable opponent. However, we are fully prepared for an exhilarating match,” he added.

During the thrilling 2023/24 campaign in the previous season, Otieno boldly led his team to triumph over Leopards twice, helping secure their record-extending 21st league title. The captain is confident that they can replicate that success this Sunday against Ingwe at the illustrious Nyayo National Stadium.

“Our preparations are progressing smoothly, and every player is energized and ready to put forth a commendable performance this Sunday,” Otieno declared. “Fans can expect an electrifying game, and I urge them to come out in large numbers to give us the much-needed support. As players, we will strive to perform admirably and bring joy to our loyal supporters,” he urged.

As the long-serving captain approaches the twilight of his tenure with the record champions, he has a remarkable opportunity to seal it with yet another double over their arch-rivals, paving the way for their quest to secure a record-extending 22nd title. Currently, Gor Mahia occupies the third position in the league with 42 points, trailing leaders Kenya Police (45 points) and second-placed Tusker (44 points).
