Gor Mahia releases four players

Gor Mahia, are undergoing a significant squad overhaul in preparation for the second half of the season. The club, under the guidance of new head coach Sinisa Mihic, has been actively involved in the transfer market to fortify their team for the upcoming challenges.

In an official communication from the club, it has been revealed that several key players have departed, including midfielder Musa Masika and winger Enock Wanyama, who were both brought in during the 2023/24 season under former coach Jonathan McKinstry.

Masika, previously with KCB, joined on a free transfer after McKinstry’s persistent pursuit. Wanyama, a former Kariobangi Sharks player, struggled to make an impact after a challenging spell in the Taiwan League.

Additionally, midfielder Kevin Juma, recruited from Nzoia Sugar in July 2023, has also been released despite initial promise. Juma, initially signed as a replacement for veteran Ernest Wendo, failed to cement his position in the team.

Even goalkeeper Dolph Junior has been affected by the restructuring, as Gor Mahia actively seeks a new shot-stopper. The club had contemplated releasing long-serving players Wendo and captain Philemon Otieno earlier but decided to extend their contracts by six months.

Looking ahead, Gor Mahia, led by Mihic, is focusing on bolstering their squad by targeting a striker, a midfielder, and a goalkeeper.

The potential acquisition of Ugandan forward Charles Bbaale is on the horizon as the club aims to enhance their attacking options. The restructuring signifies a new chapter for Gor Mahia under Mihic’s leadership, with a clear ambition to defend their title in the upcoming season.
