Gor Mahia beat Posta Rangers 2-1 in a thrilling match played at Dandora Stadium in Nairobi. The defending champions showed their prowess with a late winning goal by Alphonse Omija in stoppage time, securing the much-needed three points for K’Ogalo.

The game saw Super-sub Gedeon Bendeka opening the scoring for Gor in the 73rd minute, only to be equalized by Felix Mboya of Posta in the 84th minute. However, Gor’s determination prevailed as Omija’s late goal sealed the victory.

The match started cautiously, with both teams gradually finding their rhythm as the game progressed. Posta Rangers’ Brian Otieno and Vincent Wasambo displayed excellent teamwork in the midfield, challenging Gor Mahia’s defense.

Despite a slow start, Gor managed to create opportunities, with Shariff Musa’s early cross testing Posta’s goalkeeper Bixente Otieno. The first half saw both teams settling into the game, with Gor winning a corner kick that unfortunately did not result in a goal.

As the game intensified, Gor’s Mark Shaban and Geoffrey Onyango came close to scoring, but their efforts narrowly missed the target. Posta Rangers also had their chances, with Dinken Mwema and Eliud Lokuwam missing opportunities to put their team ahead.

Overall, it was a closely contested match with both sides showcasing their skills. Gor Mahia’s victory and Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno’s farewell highlighted the competitive spirit of Kenyan football.

In the second half, Gor Mahia took control early, with Posta goalkeeper Otieno making two crucial saves. Manager Zedekiah Otieno’s strategic triple substitution in the 60th minute brought fresh energy to the team, leading to a goal by Bendeka after a series of precise passes by Musa and Akena.

As Gor fans cheered, the game intensified with both teams making changes. Posta’s response with a double substitution saw Mboya equalizing the score late in the game after a defensive slip.

A tense moment occurred when goalkeeper Lazarus got injured, resulting in a substitution by Posta. In the final minutes, Omija redeemed himself with a goal, securing a dramatic win for Gor Mahia.

The victory places Gor Mahia in third position on the table with 31 points, while Rangers remain at the bottom with 17 points.
