Gor Mahia faced off against Kakamega Homeboyz, resulting in a goalless draw on Sunday evening in FKF Premier League match held at the Mumias Sports Complex.
Gor Mahia, following a 2-0 triumph against Sofapaka, sought to capitalize on their previous success, while Kakamega Homeboyz, fresh from a 1-0 victory over Bidco United, aimed to extend their winning streak.
Despite the anticipation surrounding the game, it transpired as a rather uneventful affair, with Gor Mahia struggling to convert their goal attempts, guided by coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.
A crucial moment occurred in the 19th minute when Homeboyz’s Pius Wangi’s shot hit the post, narrowly missing a chance to score against Gor’s goalkeeper Kevin Omondi.
In a twist of fate for Gor Mahia, Moses Shummah’s header in the 84th minute, which could have sealed the win, was invalidated for offside, resulting in the 21-time league champions settling for a draw.
The match concluded amidst controversy, with home supporters voicing their dissatisfaction over the disallowed goal, leading to tensions with the match officials as the final whistle blew.
