Media Watch: Samuel Kapen caught in transfer tug-of-war amid Gor Mahia interest

Gor Mahia could be Samuel Kapen’s next home amid reports that the young striker is attracting attention from several FKF Premier League clubs.

According to sources close to the player, Kenya Police FC has moved quickly to secure a pre-contract agreement with Kapen, a promising forward currently with Nairobi City Stars.

The deal, still under wraps, suggests that Kenya Police is determined to fend off interest from other clubs by tying down the 21-year-old, who has had a stellar season.

Kapen’s journey from the National Super League’s Kibera Black Stars to the Premier League spotlight has been marked by rapid development and impressive performances.

“City Stars has been a great platform for me, and Coach Nicholas Muyoti has really pushed me to excel. I’ve grown tremendously under his guidance,” Kapen shared on the Tiki Taka show.

The youngsters’ acknowledgment of the supportive environment at City Stars underscores the pivotal role the club and Muyoti have played in his career.

Despite the rumors, Kapen remains tight-lipped about his future.

“Gor has been one of the teams interested, but I can’t say anything definitive at this time. In the next interview, I will reveal everything,” he stated, adding an air of mystery to his impending decision.

His commitment to his current club was evident when he discussed the camaraderie among his teammates.

“What made me stay at City Stars last season was the love between the players. I want to make history with the club, but in June, I will reveal whether I will be making a move or not,” Kapen concluded, hinting at a possible departure at the end of the season.

Capable of playing across various forward positions, he has been a crucial player for the club, contributing both goals and assists.

This ongoing speculation comes as Kapen wraps up his second FKF Premier League season with City Stars having joined them from Kibera Black Stars in September 2022.
