Gor Mahia opened a four-point lead at the top of the FKF Premier League table following their 2-0 victory over FC Talanta at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday.
Gor started brightly but were frustrated by their hosts in the early exchanges leading to a goalless first half.
However, KāOgalo asserted their authority after the break and got their reward in the 57th minute when Boniface Omondi broke the deadlock and it did not take long before a second one arrived.
Ten minutes later, the enterprising Austin Odhiambo slotted in the second to firm up the lead for the champions who were rarely troubled by their hosts.
Victory preserves Gor Mahiaās unbeaten run and they also have some breathing space at the top of the table after moving to 31 points, four ahead of Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB.
Gor benefited greatly from Homeboyzās shock 2-0 loss to AFC Leopards, a result that ended Abana Abeingoās five-match winning run, as both teams were separated by just a point heading into Sundayās matches.
In other matches, Nairobi City Stars beat Ulinzi Stars 2-1 thanks to Denis Owalo and Vincent Owinoās goals which canceled out Boniface Muchiriās earky strike while Kariobangi Sharks and Bidco United played out a barren draw.
Victory lifts City Stars up to sixth on the table with 24 points while Ulinzi Stars have slipped to 12th with 17.
Bidco, meanwhile, stay 10th with 21 points while Sharks are slowly slipping into the relegation zone as they are now 14th with as many points from 15 games.
