FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia will on Saturday 12th August play against Kakamega Homeboyz in the final of the Charity Shield Cup at a venue yet to be announced by the Football Kenya Federation – FKF..
Gor Mahia, who made history by becoming the first-ever Kenyan side to win 20 league titles, will be playing Homeboyz, a side that gave them numerous problems last season both in the league and cup on route to winning their first-ever FKF Cup.
K’ogalo will be seeking to nurse their wounds from being slapped with the harsh reality that they would not be taking part in this year’s Champions League campaign by beating Homeboyz in the final to lift the shield.
Gor were banned from taking part in this season’s premier African competition after one of their former players Sadio Yangayay took the club to CAF citing that the club had failed to pay his dues.
Should Homeboyz win the shield, it will be the third time in three meetings that they have emerged victorious over the Johnathan McKinstry-coached outfit this year.
Gor have won the title six times, in 2009, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. They could make it a sevent title with a win over Homeboyz.
