Media Watch: We are not Champions yet – McKinstry

Gor Mahia head coach Johnny McKinstry is wary of the threat that will be imposed by Kakamega Homeboyz and Nairobi City Stars in their final two games of the season.

Gor beat Ulinzi Stars on Sunday to go back to the summit of the league after Tusker fell in Muhoroni and according to the Irishman, the title race isn’t far from over with two games remaining.

“People will walk from this game and declare us champions which isn’t true. We have two big games coming for both of us (Tusker FC). We are back on top where we wanted to be but we still have Homeboyz and City Stars coming up. Homeboyz has a Cup final which might see them rest their players in their final game so our clash with them might be their penultimate league game of the season,” the Irishman said.

McKinstry further expressed his delight at the style of play his team exhibited against Ulinzi Stars stating that it was one of the best he had seen for a while.

“I’m really pleased. You’ve heard me say before that this is a young team. We are trying to build something. It’s tough playing for Gor and develop but there were parts of the game that were beautiful and there was some good passage of play and the fans loved it,” he added.

Gor are now two points clear at the top of the table but have a tougher schedule than Tusker who will face Posta Rangers and Vihiga Bullets in their last two games.
