Omalla on target as Gor beats Nzoia 1-0 in FKFPL season opener

Gor Mahia forward Benson Omalla scores the only goal to give K’ogalo’s first victory of the FKF Premier League at Nyayo National Stadium – Nairobi.

In a game attended by the club patron and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and CS of Communication Hon Eliud Owalo, Gor Mahia has no option but to prove their worth.

Omalla’s goal came in the second half of the game when he rose high to head home a freekick delivered by Sydney Ochieng.

The goal however didn’t stop the visitors from knocking the Gor’s window in search of the equalizer that nearly came in the 61st minute when Barisa dribbled past Ng’ang’a but his shot flew off target.

A clash of heads between Wendo and Stephen Otieno in the 80th minute saw the game halted for a couple of minutes as the medics swung into action to give first aid to the duo.

The win saw new Gor coach Jonathan McKinstry kick off his tenure with a win.
