Record Premier League Champions Gor Mahia today bid goodbye to the title race after a 1 all draw against Nzoia Sugar FC at the Kasarani Stadium.
Gor needed to win their last two games with the hope that both Tusker FC and Kakamega Homeboys lose their remaining games in order to bring the title back home.
All the hopes vanished with Tusker FC getting a 2-0 triumph over Bidco FC and Kakamega Homeboys getting a 2-0 walkover after Talanta failed to honor their match at the Ruaraka Grounds.
Levis Okello opened the scoring for Nzoia in the first half heading a loose ball into the back of the net.
However, in the 48th minute, super striker Samuel Onyango levels things bringing back hopes that the match was within reach for K’ogalo.
Pushing hard to get a winner Benson Omalla almost scored the winner with his trademark header but his exploits were well handled by Nzoia keeper Benson Mangala.
With both sides pushing to get a win Sando Yangayay was introduced in the 70th minute but Nzoia tightly locked their defense making it impenetrable by the green army.
The draw leaves the club in the fourth position in the logs with Tusker in pole position to retain the league title that they won last season.
The club’s next match will be against Talanta FC on Wednesday 8th June at the Kasarani Stadium.
