Gor Mahia forward Benson Omalla scored the much-needed goal to give K’Ogalo a crucial win over KCB in a match played at Thika Stadium.
Philemon Otieno delivered a sublime freekick that found Benson Omalla unmarked to guide his diving header into the roof of the net as he wheeled away in celebration.
The striker grabbed his 4th goal this season in the 76th minute of the game giving ore to K’Ogalo a will after the previous loss against Tusker in Narok.
A dull mood took the better part of the first half with both teams showing little commitment with the first real chance 16 minutes of the game when Boniface Omondi let loose of a thunderbolt from outside the 18-yard area that sailed just wide off the mark.
Gor Mahia came in the second half with zeal to break the deadlock but their efforts were repelled by KCB’s solid defense.
K’Ogalo almost broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when John Macharia whipped in a pinpoint cross that was nodded towards goal by Samuel Onyango but Nashon Alembi was in hand to clear the ball off the line.
Gor Mahia sat deep to defend their lead and did a commendable job limiting KCB to only one chance which Derrick Otanga fired over the bar as the Bankers suffered back-to-back defeats.
Tribute the late President Mwai Kibaki
