Gor Mahia centre-back Dennis Ng’ang’a says although joining the record Kenyan Premier League champions is a dream come true, he still nurses a burning desire to turn professional abroad soon.

The deft left-footed defender has singled out the South African Premier League as his preferred destination should his cherished plans materialise, although an opportunity to travel north would be equally welcome.

However, Ng’ang’a insists his immediate agenda is to help fire K’Ogalo to their 20th title before he can eventually think of making the giant leap that might just as well serve to cap off his glittering top-flight career.

“I am ambitious and I won’t lie. I want to win the league with Gor Mahia but even more important is my desire to get into the national team and possibly feature for a big team outside the country if my performance is good enough,” said Ng’ang’a.

“I fancy the south African league or up north. Perhaps Morocco and Egypt. But I wouldn’t mind even if a chance to play in Europe came begging,” he added.

Ng’ang’a, who has prominently featured at the heart of K’Ogalo’s watertight defense in all the five matches they have played this season, was acquired from rivals Wazito as the club frantically moved to plug a gaping hole occasioned by the mass exodus of key players.

The lanky defender says he is quickly learning to get around the intricacies of a position he is not entirely familiar with.

Previously, he had featured as left-fullback for both KCB and Wazito but the current Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison has discovered a new role for him as a central defense where he is either paired with skipper Harun Shakava or youngster Frank Odhiambo.

The pair was impressive on Saturday as they stood firm to fend off scathing in-roads made by the Kenya Police attacking force in a league match that ended in a one-all draw.

Nganga does not hide his burning desire to don the national team colors, saying he most certainly savours an opportunity to do so and he is indefatigable toiling towards the goal.
