The all-time champions Gor Mahia were held in a 1-1 draw in a stunning encounter with the Kenya Police FC. It was anticipated to be the clash of season and it lived to its expectation.

Boniface Omondi shelved the barren stalemate in the 52nd minute of the game but it was short-lived as former K’Ogalo forward Clifton Miheso leveled nine (9) minutes later.

Gor Mahia was better and should have gone to the break at least a goal up. when Jules Ulimwengu was presented with a golden opportunity in the 16th minute with a well-weighted cutback from Boniface Omondi found him inside the box, but the Burundian International hit it hard wide over the bar.

K’Ogalo again got another chance in the 29 minutes when Peter Lwasa got a good chance galloping his way into the box from the left with more space, but his strike with a low shot was wide and didn’t trouble the keeper.

In the 37th minute, Lwasa again with a throw-in from Fred Nkata from George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo who beat and took out two Police markers with a deft flick into Lwasa’s path, setting him up one on one on goal. His effort was wasted as he went for a low shot going off target.

The police side retaliates In the 38th minute of the game with a counter-attack that saw K’ogalo goalkeeper Adama Keita pull a stunning double save from Alvin Mang’eni’s curling shot and Mhiheso effort from the rebound.

The two sides went to the break charged and promising to come back with more attacks.

As expected to be another 45 minutes of fireworks, K’ogalo came gun-blazing looking for a breakthrough and this was achieved in the 52nd minute when chicky forward Boniface Omondi raced in unmarked at the back post and headed in George Odhiambo’s cross amid jubilation from K’ogalo follower from the stand.

But Police got back on level terms 9 minutes later when Miheso’s freekick curled in from the right rolled into the goal.

K’Ogalo later introduced lethal forward Benson Omala in the 71st minute and his presence almost yielded when he picked up the ball on the left, took a rasping snapshot from distance but it flew just wide.

K’Ogalo still remain on the summit with 4 wins and 2 draws after 6 games. Click here for more game statistics
