Gor Mahia vs Ulinzi Stars match ended in a barren (0-0) draw this evening at Thika Municipal Stadium.
K’Ogalo came into the match with the hope of reclaiming their winning mentality against the Soldiers who beat them in last season’s FKF Premier League, but it was not to be as both teams tries to outdo one another in a midweek clash played at 3.00 MP in Thika.
K’Ogalo’s first attempt came in the 13th minute of the game when John Macharia took in a corner that was by Benson Omalla, but KDF custodian James Saruni had a good vision-saving the header.
Omalla’s teaming up with Jules Ulimwengu caused another threat five minutes later. The Burundian played the ball wide to Omalla who delivered a low cross back the Burundian, but Ulinzi Custodian came to the rescue again denying Ulimuengu to slot in the opener.
In the 26th minute, Yusuf Mainge floated in a cross to the far post that found an unmarked Philemon Otieno who had surged forward but the defender could not gauge his header on target.
The Soldiers’ threat came in the 42nd minute of the game after forward, Ibrahim Shabi short from Hillary Simiyu was well picked but K’Ogalo goalkeeper Gad Mathews who had a short holiday on the post.
K’ogalo came back to the second half with the same pace to break the deadlock and their first attempt came after Mainge delivered a cross for Omalla, but his header missed the target by a whisker.
Ulinzi came close on their second attempt, in the 80th minute when Clinton Omondi took a corner that somehow evaded everyone and found Oscar Wamalwa on the far post but sluggish forward could not reach the ball on time watching K’Oogalo captain Haron Shakava block his weak off-target shot.
Ulinzi missed a chance by a whisker in the second minute of added time when Masita Masuta’s shot missed the target narrowly.
With the draw and five (5) unbeaten runs, K’Ogalo reclaimed the top slot of FKFPL table with 13 points. It was also a jovial moment at K’Ogalo when their prodigal son George Odhiambo’s “Blackberry” was introduced 20 minutes to the game.
