Kenya most celebrated club Gor Mahia and shirt sponsor Betsafe are in a tussle over the new deal that requests for reducing the previous agreement by 50%.
This is after the shirt sponsor made a request through a letter to the club’s office to make the package reduced by a half.
Gor Mahia signed a Sh 55 million per year shirt sponsorship with Betsafe on June 19th, 2020. A deal that would last for three years.
But the current unfolding event hasn’t been welcomed by Kenyas all-time champions owing to the fact that the club’s wage bill runs up to 4 million per month and the low offer isn’t sustainable by the new deal as was confirmed by the club EC member.
“Yes it is true Betsafe wrote to us requesting if we can take a 50 percent cut for a year then we return to the Sh 55 million deal the following year,” an official of Gor Mahia said.
“However, we are yet to sit down as an executive to discuss this. We have not yet responded to their request,” the official added.
K’Ogalo is currently facing a financial crunch with the chairman Ambrose Rachier earlier in the week making a passionate appeal to club members and well-wishers to donate through a newly launched paybill number.
