Gor Wazito clash ends in a stalemate

Defending Champions Gor Mahia were held to a barren draw when they played Wazito FC in FKF Premier League staged at This Municipal Stadium on Wednesday 23 rd June 2021.

K’Ogalo got a setback at the beginning after midfielder Alpha Onyango was stretched off with a serious injury and was taken straight to the ambulance and John Macharia introduced the seventh minute of the game.

Gor Mahia came into the game having 7 consecutive league game wins, a tag that engineered their confidence towards the clash.

This early change saw a reshuffle with Kenneth Muguna moved to fill the gap left by Alpha and Karim filling the former captain slot.

Wazito FC first attempt could have yielded their first lead even against Gor Mahia in the 15th minute of the game when but Michael Owino shot was comfortably saved by custodian Gad mathews.

It took 26 minutes for K’ogalo to make a serious attempt on Wazito’s goal-line, but John Macharia missed Karim’s pass from the left by a whisker giving Wazito’s defense line a sigh of relief.

In retaliation, Wazito came close again in the 27th minute when a cross from a free-kick by Musa Masika found Johnstone Omurwa who headed the bak but K’Ogalo captain Haron Shakave had calculated, clearing the ball intensely forcing Gad Mathews to make another save for a corner kick.

Both team came to the second hals more couriuos but each pilling pressure to break the deadlock.

Gir Mahia bench sought to add more power to the striking force, bringing in Sydney Ochieng’ and Samuel Onyango to replace Clifton Miheso and Abduil Karim Zoko.

Samuel Onyango has his momnet in the 61st miute with beating the last man Peter Odhiambo only for the defender to palme the ball making the center referee to book hin with a yellow card.

With many effort unsuccessful both team settled for a barren draw with K’Ogalo slowing the pace to catch-up with the the league top contenders, Tusker FC and KCB.

Gor Mahia now has 38 points after playing 19 games and are placed in the 3rd position of the league table.
