Defending champions Gor Mahia beat Mathare United 1-0 in a midweek Betking Premier League match played at Ruaraka Grounds this evening.

Mathare side came for a revenge after first-leg humiliation by Gor Mahia in January 14th, 2021 when they went down 3-1. But the slum boys blunders gave K’Ogalo an easy goal.

Alpha Onyang’s delivery to the Mathare box got Mathare defender Lenox Ogutu unprepared to clear it, sending the ball to his own net in the 42 minutes of the game.

It was the only goal of the game, giving K’Ogalo three (3) needed point to pile pressure to the three top league contenders (KCB, Tuker FC and AFC Leopards.

In a much-balanced game with a slow starting, it was Mathare who made the first attempt in the 36th minute when Tyson Otieno initiated the move after beating his two Geoffrey Ochienf and Frank Odhiambo, but his effort could not trouble keeper Mathews.

Gor now has 34 points from 18 games played with one game at hand.
