Kenya sports fraternity is morning a great sportsman and a great Rugby coach ever to live in Kenyan soil.
Benjamin Ayimba will be missed by many lovers of sports and especially the Rugby team that he led to their first World Sevens Series title when they beat Fiji at the Singapore Sevens in 2016.
As reported by Afrrica Sports News
Ayimba has been the face of Kenya Sevens rugby since he first took over from Bill Githinji as coach in 2006, making him the youngest coach on the IRB circuit and in Kenya’s history.
As a player skippered Impala Saracens to the Enterprise Cup and Kenya Cup after a 26-year drought.
At Impala, Ayimba formed a formidable partnership with Oscar Osir, Boko Inyundo and Fred Ollows making the side one of the best team in the mid and late nineties.
It is Osir, his best friend both at club and national team who was tasked to break the saddest news to the country.
Osir has been the family spokesman since Ayimba was first hospitalized, giving weekly updates on his condition.
“Benjamin succumbed to the multiple complications he was being treated for over the past couple of months,” said Osir.
“May the Almighty God rest Benjamin’s soul in peace,” said Osir.
