Gor Mahia faced with a match-fixing claims

Kenya defending champions Gor Mahia FC have been rocked by numerous claims of match-fixing in an ongoing investigation by football governing body Football Kenya Federation (FKF)

K’Ogalo has shocked many die-hard fans after going down in 6 games out of 13 FKF Premier League. The team also failed to secure slots in CAF competitions raising concerns on whether the team is serious about any ongoing competitions.

Speaking to Citizan TV network, Gor Mahia chair Ambrose admitite the tean is facing such allegations and investigations are going on.

“We’ve had allegations of match-fixing going on in the club and we are treating the issue with the seriousness that it deserves. Investigations are on and we will get to know what’s there,” Rachier said.

The club’s Secretary General Sam Ochola agreed with the chaiman sentiment citing there is already an in-house investigation to to establish the truth with thorough repacationd to follow if found to be true..

“The issue of match-fixing is gaining traction and we are concerned. We are investigating some players and club officials mentioned as possible contributors to these acts of match-fixing….Some of these games we have lost clearly direct us to believe it’s happening,” Secretary-General Ochola noted.

Ochola however admitted that the team hand been training as required due to salaries delays but promised to sort the issue out soonest.

“I know players have not been paid but this is being looked into and should be sorted before end month. There are no notable go-slow as is purported, but the salary issue is a matter of concern and some players are hurting due to this delay in payments.”

Head Coach Manuel Vaz Pinto has also come out on the subject citing some questionable occurrences prior to many games.

‘’We’ve had some bad days and indeed, there are some questionable incidents and it could be true or it could be just a perception but the thing is, these things happen not just in Kenya but also elsewhere,” Coach Pinto told Citizen Digital.

K’Ogalo have are currently in position 8 with 19 points, 6 loses, 1 draws, and 6 wins.
