Gor Mahia returns to local league

Gor Mahia is back to the local arena, working out their path back to the Continental league. But the first huddle is to turn the table at the BetKing Premier League with current league leaders Tusker FC not ready to let go of the title.

K’Ogalo’s 10th league match will be at Mumias Complex against Nzoia Sugar this coming Sunday.  A win will see the Kenya giant move from sixteen to nineteen points, a big gap to fill against the league leaders, but with more games at hand.

The continental contenders did live to expectations in the CAF tournament with poor results many attributed to poor preparations. The team lost to CR Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League, moving them to the lower tier of the continental league – CAF Confederation Cup which they lost to NAPSA Stars of Zambia.

The team has played 9 games winning five, drawing one, and losing three games in the FKF BetKing Premier League.

With the new look at the technical bench, K’Ogalo will push for the league slot with the aim to secure space for the continental soccer space. The only title challenger so far noticed since 2013 is Tusker FC that has won once with the remaining eight (8) titles going to Gor Mahia.

New head coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto has promised good results. He is assisted by Legend Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo who has been instrumental to the team during CAF CL games, sailing the team to the second stage before being eliminated by the Moroccan side CRB.

The campaign begins and more concentration on the local league is in offing.
