It was another low session as Gor Mahia suffered a 1-0 loss to Vihiga United in an FKF Premier League game played at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

late goal from Denis Wafula was enough to see visitors collect maximum points from the defending champions.

Gor Mahia came into the match aiming at getting their third win in a row, considering their previous victories against Mathare United and Western Stima.

It was a tight first half as Vihiga employed a cautious approach, sitting back and trying to hit their hosts with counter-attacks.

K’Ogalo were frustrated in the first 45 minutes and at the end of it, none of the two teams managed to get the opening goal.

The visitors started the second half better and they could have taken a lead early after the break, but David Simiyu missed a great opportunity in a prime position.

Tito Okello was introduced to help sharpen the attacking department and the towering forward had an immediate impact, helping to put the Vihiga defenders on their toes, but he could not capitalise on two chances he had.

The champions dominated, but they could not break down the resilient Vihiga defense.

With four minutes to go, the Sammy Okoth-led charges created a chance – Wafula managed to keep his cool to hand his team their second win in the nine league matches.
