Gor Mahia target maximum points against Stima

Gor Mahia continues their league programme today with a match against Western Stima at 4pm at Kasarani, Nairobi.

Hassan Oktay’s charges will be seeking their fifth win on the trot and victory will take them to the top of the table on goal difference while tied on points with Bandari.

Gor will be facing the Power-men from Kisumu for the first time since 2017 when they suffered relegation. In that season, Jacques Tuyisenge’s lone goal was not enought to prevent Gor suffering a 1-2 loss in the first leg before the winning the return leg 2-1 in the second leg. On the score sheet for Gor Mahia, were Francis Kahata and Wellington Ochieng.

Gor Mahia has traditionally dominated this fixture despite losing their first ever league encounter 2-0 in 2008. Of the 20 league games played so far between the two, Gor Mahia have won 12, lost four times and and drawn four times. Their last loss against the Power-men was a 1-2 loss in Kisumu in April 2017.

A host of players at Gor Mahia could be facing their former sides with Joash Onyango, Kenneth Muguna, Benard Ondiek and Godfrey Ochieng all having been signed by K’Ogalo from Western Stima at one point.

Gor Mahia will be having one eye on their crucial CAF Confederations Cup against Algerian side Hussein Dey and coach Hassan Oktay will be expected to ring some changes today.
